Scrolless is an iOS app designed to protect your eyes from digital strain. Using Apple's Screen Time API, Scrolless monitors your phone usage and prompts you to take science-backed eye rest breaks at optimal intervals.
Here's how it works:
It's automatic eye care that fits seamlessly into your daily routine.
Scrolless offers a 7 days free trial period so you can experience the full benefits risk-free. After the trial, regular annual subscription is: [price].
All subscriptions are managed through the App Store and can be cancelled anytime.
It's very simple:
That's it! Use your phone as usual, and our smart algorithm will take care of the rest.
From time to time, Scrolless will lock your screen when it's time to rest and invite you to take a break. Simply tap the notification to start your rest session—or press Skip if you can't take a break right away.
Our Eye Strain Meter will monitor your strain levels throughout the day and show your results after each rest session. You can also check your current strain level anytime by opening Scrolless.
Not yet—but we're working on it! For now, Scrolless is only available for iPhone.

The timeframe varies depending on your overall eye health, but most people experience improvement in their eye strain symptoms within 1–14 days.
Individuals with significant visual fatigue or imbalance may feel noticeable relief in as little as 1–3 days, while those with mild or occasional eye strain might notice results more slowly. Allow your eyes time to adapt to a new, more balanced and rested routine.
Taking regular breaks from screens is the most natural way to rest them and, as a result, is the most recommended simple way to reduce digital eye strain. Taking breaks from screens is completely safe for your eyes.
Just use common sense – avoid closing your eyes in situations where it could be dangerous, such as while driving or operating machinery.
Currently, Scrolless uses a smart algorithm that calculates optimal break timing based on your individual usage patterns and eye strain levels. This ensures you get breaks when you actually need them, rather than at arbitrary fixed intervals.
For comprehensive eye protection, we recommend tracking all apps or at least all apps where you spend significant time scrolling, reading, or watching content.
You may want to exclude:
Tip: You can always adjust your tracked apps list later in Settings (tap the Profile tab in the top-right corner).
Your eyes are complicated and delicate organs, so it's important to care for them properly. Scrolless is just one part of maintaining healthy vision while using your mobile device.
Other factors that affect eye health:
If you regularly experience eye strain, fatigue, irritation, or other symptoms, consider consulting your GP or ophthalmologist. Remember, Scrolless is NOT a medical care provider, and persistent eye strain may indicate underlying eye conditions. In such cases, addressing the root cause will be more effective than relying on relaxation alone.
No. Your Screen Time data always stays on your device. On iOS, we use Apple's Screen Time API to invite you to rest your eyes while you're using other apps—we never store any of this data; it remains entirely on your phone.
As for other data, like most technology companies, we use limited information to improve our products and services. As an EU-based company, we prioritize your privacy—even when collecting more data could benefit product development—and follow strict EU GDPR rules. You can find our detailed Privacy Policy here.
One more thing: We never, ever sell any of your personal data to third parties. Scrolless is built by and for individuals. Our users are not the product—Scrolless is.
No, Scrolless is designed to run efficiently in the background without slowing down your phone or draining your battery.
It uses iOS Screen Time data rather than heavy processing, so the impact on performance and battery is minimal. Most users won't notice any difference in their phone's battery life.
If your tracked app gets locked but you don't receive a notification to rest your eyes – even after requesting it to be resent – it is most likely being filtered out by your phone's Focus mode. (Focus is an Apple feature that limits notifications and distractions.)
To allow notifications from Scrolless:
We use iPhone's default notification length, which might be too short for some users. If the notification disappears before you tap it, you can always click Resend notification at the bottom of the Scrolless screen lock.
To make notifications stay visible until you act on them:
Now, every Scrolless break reminder will remain on your screen until you tap it.
Occasionally, screen locks prompting you to rest may not work on one or a few apps you have selected. Here's how to fix the issue:
Step 1: Check the list of Tracked Apps
Confirm that the apps you want to track are indeed selected in Tracked apps (Tap the Profile tab at the top-right corner to access Settings). If this doesn't resolve the issue:
Step 2: Review your "Always Allowed" Apps
Your iPhone Screen Time Settings have an Always Allowed list of apps, which Apple generates automatically (and may include apps you've selected). Apps in this category will always be allowed and override any rules Scrolless applies.
To troubleshoot:
Scrolless calculates your time on all tracked apps and prompts you to rest whenever a break is due. If you don't want to be interrupted while using essential apps, there are two ways to exclude them:
Easy Way
Unselect the apps you don't want to be disturbed on in your Tracked Apps list in Settings (tap the Profile tab in the top-right corner).
You won't get Scrolless screen locks or receive break reminders while using these apps. However, keep in mind that time spent on these apps will not be included in your overall eye strain calculation, nor reflected in daily Eye Strain Meter values.
Advanced Way
Your iPhone's Screen Time Settings have an Always Allowed list of apps, which Apple generates automatically and to which you can add apps manually. Apps in this category will never be locked by Scrolless, but time spent on them will still count toward your overall eye strain calculation.
To use this option:
Scrolless uses iOS Screen Time to calculate when it's time for you to rest your eyes. Occasionally, iOS issues may cause Screen Time settings to freeze, which may result in breaks not working for some or all apps.
This may happen in the following ways:
Here's how to fix the issue:
Step 1: Reload restrictions
Open any restricted app, then tap on the notification you receive and follow the suggested steps (take a break or skip it). If this doesn't resolve the issue:
Step 2: Open and close the Scrolless app
Open and then force close the Scrolless app and open it again to reset it. If you're unsure how to do so, please follow the steps here. If that doesn't fix the issue:
Step 3: Restart your device
Turn your device off and back on. If that doesn't work:
Step 4: Reset Screen Time tracking
If none of the above steps work, reset Scrolless' connection to Screen Time. To do this:
Note: Unfortunately, resetting your Screen Time tracking will reset your Eye Strain Meter to 0 for that day. This is because this data is private and only available through Screen Time connection. Scrolless does not store this data anywhere.
